SEATTLE, WA — PharmID, Inc., a leading provider of medication verification solutions for hospitals and health systems, announced today that it has entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company, NYSE: BDX).

Under the agreement, BD will be the exclusive distributor of PharmID’s WasteWitness® controlled substance waste verification system for hospitals in the U.S.

WasteWitness was designed specifically for hospitals to be used as part of a comprehensive controlled substances diversion program. Utilizing proprietary medication verification technology, WasteWitness quickly and accurately identifies drug type and concentration at point of need; giving pharmacists, diversion specialists, and administrators information to help identify medication waste tampering and support drug diversion investigations.

The combination of BD’s and PharmID’s products provides customers with a robust technology solution they can use to strengthen the monitoring and security of controlled substances, enhance investigation efficiency and drive compliance with ASHP guidelines and policies.

“Our partnership with PharmID reinforces our commitment to advancing connected medication management by strengthening our controlled substance monitoring offering,” said Doug Bartlett, Vice President/General Manager, Dispensing Solutions at BD. “WasteWitness will help our customers close gaps in the diversion monitoring process and provide them with additional peace of mind.”

James DePoy, CEO of PharmID added, “We are extremely excited to partner with BD. Their scale and reach, combined with their clinical expertise and complementary product portfolio, make them an ideal partner to help expand and deepen our customer relationships.”

The distribution agreement may be expanded with additional products and territories in the future.
